Requirements

For an authentic Ganpati Puja, you’ll need several sacred items to honor Lord Ganesha properly. Essential requirements include a Ganesha idol or image, fresh Durva grass (considered Lord Ganesha’s favorite), red flowers (especially hibiscus), incense sticks, a ghee lamp or diya, camphor, sandalwood paste, kumkum, turmeric, coconut, betel leaves and nuts, and fruits. Most importantly, prepare Modaks – the sweet delicacy beloved by Ganpati. You’ll also need Panchamrit (sacred mixture of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar) for abhishekam, along with akshata (unbroken rice grains). Keep a clean cloth, bell, and aarti thali ready. Having these materials prepared beforehand ensures your puja flows smoothly without interruptions.
